Layering Stamped Images to Create a Scene
Hello! Today we are layering stamped images to create a scene. So what’s different about this than any other card? I’m using solid image stamps and there’s no masking involved. Solid stamped images give a very different look than outline stamps.
I have to make a note here. I had a migraine when I recorded the voice over for this video so I must apologize if I’m a little discombobulated.
Layering Stamped Images to Create a Scene
When you’re building a scene that doesn’t require masking, it makes things much easier. The only thing you really need to decide is if you’ll use foam tape or not. I always say yes to foam tape!
First, you need a foundation for your scene. I like to make sure it blends with my theme. Since the stamps are outside themed, I decided I wanted a warm brick wall for my flowers and window shutters. Some other options for a background for this particular scene are embossing paste with a more brick pattern, patterned paper, or a die-cut plate background.
Second, I stamped all of my solid images. Solid image stamps just done have an outline. I wanted the flowers to have a little more depth than just a single color. I stamped the darkest color and then stamped it a second time with a lighter color. This worked really well to make it look like the flowers have varying colors.
Next, I die-cut additional die cuts behind the flowers and the window box. This serves two purposes: 1. it adds depth and 2. it keeps the image from drooping.
I glued the window/shutter image down flat to the background panel. Then I added foam tape to back of images. Be sure to add additional layers of foam tape to the back when stacking on the top of other images.
Finally, I added brads, Nuvo Drops, and Glitter Brush Marker to complete the look and add those finishing touches.
I hope you enjoyed this card and join me tomorrow for another card in the 30 Days of Card series.
