I am working through the Altenew Educators Certification Program and this class is all about color! You can check out the Polychromatic class here. The irony is I am creating a monochromatic card today. I love monochromatic cards. You can create an entire rainbow set of cards so easily like this.

Watch this video to see how I created this stunning card. All of the products used are linked at the bottom of this post.

There are so many ways to use color on cards and monochrome is one of my favorites. I think it adds some depth and elegance to the card.

First, I created a background by stamping the outline of the Peony flower from the Peony Bouquet stamp set in embossing ink. Then I coated the entire panel with Satin Pearl embossing powder and melted it nice and smooth. This embossing powder picks up the color behind it so it’s a nice subtle background that isn’t competing with the other elements on the card.

Next, I stamped a large flower, the small flower, and a leaf in pink inks on pink cardstock. I die cut each of the elements using the coordinating dies.

For the sentiment, I stamped it in embossing ink and used white embossing powder.

Finally, I created my cluster by adding foam tape to the back of the flower and gluing the other elements down flat the card front. I popped up the sentiment with foam tape. And for a finishing touch I added drops of Glossy Accents.

I hope you enjoyed this card and give monotone cards a try.
