This week’s Make the Cards Challenge is to use a background stamp. I thought about it and wanted to use an embossing folder as a background stamp instead of an actual stamp. So I did!

It’s really easy to do. Open your embossing folder up. The side that doesn’t have raised parts on it is the side you can ink.

Since I wanted to make a sympathy card, I kept my colors subtle and the cards simple. I used a Christmas themed folder and turned it into something a little different.

You can use a brayer or just apply the ink pad directly to the embossing folder. Then emboss as usual.

The key to this is do not move the cardstock once you place it the folder. It will smear the ink to places you don’t want it.

This technique also gives lots of texture. Try it out.

Don’t forget to pop over to the challenge and enter your card for a chance to be a weekly winner.
