Song Inspired Card Home Sweet Home

Hello! I’m sharing a second card inspired by a song. This time it’s Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue. The song title and the colors the band used way back in the 1980s struck a chord with me. Back in the 80s the band used a lot of black, white, red, and silver in their costumes so that’s what I used to create this card. All of the products used are linked at the bottom of this article.

Home Sweet Home Card

I kept this card really simple. First, I stamped the background using the XO Turnabout stamp from Concord & 9th. I used a light grey ink that wouldn’t take away from the houses and would still look nice peeking through the open parts of the house stamps.

Next, I stamped the houses from the City Stacks stamp set also by Concord & 9th. I used Versamark Onyx Black Pigment Ink and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.

I needed to add a bit of red to the card so I found a stamp in the Lawn Fawn Winter Village that totally worked with this and added just the right amount of red to the card.

I cut the SVG sentiment out 3 times and then stacked them up. The sentiment didn’t stand out enough against the white background so I added a shadow by creating an offset of the sentiment. The offset is cut out from light grey cardstock.

To kick up the sentiment a notch I added clear glitter pen and Glossy Accents to it. The Glossy Accents is just on the word sweet.

Once that was done, the card still needed a little something else. I added the dotted line around the entire edge and that really did finish off this amazingly simple card.
