Black is the popular color for Christmas this year.  Seems a little odd but it really is beautiful!  I didn’t purchase a bunch of new products for Christmas cards this year because I already have TONS of Christmas stamps and dies.  So for the Season’s Greetings in Black and Gold, I used the Ring Wreath Die by Simon Says Stamp and the Lots of Dots background stamp by My Favorite Things.

Season’s Greetings in Black & Gold Christmas Card

For this card, I decided to do some die cut inlay along with some Nuvo Gilding Flakes.  It wasn’t as simple as what I thought it would be.  I think I mixed up the steps, to be honest.  So here’s how I think it should go together.

First, trim down your green cardstock to be just wide enough for the wreath.  Then die cut the wreath.  Be sure to save all of the little pieces that aren’t part of the wreath design and the big piece in the center.  You can use the wreath and the circles to make another card so don’t throw those pieces away.

Next, put a Stampin’ Up! Adhesive Sheet on one side of a piece of black cardstock.  Die cut this using the wreath die.  I used the wreath outline and not the black circles.

Then, put a Stampin’ Up! Adhesive Sheet on each side of a piece of heavyweight white cardstock.  I used 80lb Neenah Solar White.  Die cut with the wreath die.  Now, don’t pick up the die.  Don’t even remove the cutting plates.  Instead, pick up both cutting plates and them over.

Cut down a piece of red cardstock to be 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Adhere the green piece to the front of the red.  Pull the release paper off the black wreath outline.  Insert the outline in the cut out in the green cardstock.  Insert all of the extra pieces and the center of the wreath.  Pull the release paper off the back of all the circles cut from the white cardstock.  Place each circle in each of the places.

Pull the release paper from the front of the circles of white cardstock.  Add Nuvo Gilding Flakes and brush away the extra.

Stamp the sentiment in the center and if you want a background stamp can be added to the green before you cut it.

Season’s Greeting in Black and Gold Christmas Card isn’t the only card I created with the Simon Says Stamp Ring Wreath Die.  Check out the Christmas Wishes Wreath Card.
