Hello! Today, we are making a slimline space themed birthday card with a simplified galaxy background. We’re starting with black cardstock.

Slimline Space Birthday Card

Our layout is inspired by this week’s challenge from Make the Cards Challenge.

Instead of starting with white cardstock and inking the galaxy background, we’re taking a shortcut. Start with black cardstock and use some Distress Oxide Inks to add various colors. Seriously! It’s that easy.

Then, splatter with white and add some sparkly splatters.

All of the images are stamped on Neenah cardstock with Copic safe ink. I colored each image in just a few colors.

I kept the rest of the card really simple too. I added a strip of textured cardstock to the edge of the black background. All of the sentiments are stamped in black ink on white cardstock and trimmed out in strips.

The finished size of this slimline card is 8.5″ x 3.75″. I hope you give this simplified galaxy background a try and don’t forget to join us for this week’s challenge.
