Spellbinders March Kits
Today we are taking a look at three kits from Spellbinders. The Large and Small Die of the Month Kit and the Glimmer Hot Foil Plates Kit of the Month. The March kits are themed around Easter and Spring. There are decorative eggs, baskets, and bunnies and even a giant carrot in the mix!
Eggstra Special
The first card I have for you today is a simple straight forward Easter card using the Glimmer Hot Foil Kit. This card is simple and quick to make. This is the perfect card to mass-produce to send to family and friends.
I foiled the three egg shapes on white cardstock and used the coordinating die to cut it out. Then I foiled the sentiment in silver foil and cut it out using the sentiment die included in the set. I popped up the purple panel and the sentiment using foam tape. The hardest part of this card is waiting for the platform to heat up.
24 Carrot
The second card is a shaker card. I used the carrot shape from the Small Die of the Month kit to create an adorable shaker filled with all kinds of shiny stuff.
You can make a shaker card out of any outline shape. You might have to get creative to make a back as I did here. I didn’t want the sides of my carrot to be foam tape so I die cut about 7 of the outline shapes. I glued all of the outline shapes together expect one. Then, I glued a clear piece of acetate on the top. To complete the top portion of the shaker I added the last outline carrot shape.
This die doesn’t allow me to create a back so I used the hole created by the die as a guide to fussy cut the back of my shaker card. I used sequins, confetti, and seed beads for my shaker mix. It’s my own mix.
Basket Full of Bunnies
This die set is awesome! You can create a 3D basket with the included die if you wanted to. It’s so cute! But we’re just creating a flat front card with lots of bunnies. I even used the bunnies from the 24 Carrot set.
This card is a lot of die-cutting. The eyes, ears, and noses are all individual pieces. The other option to die-cutting everything from different cardstock is to color it after you die cut it. And well there are some TINY things in this set so I used different colors of cardstock.
For the background, I used Distress Oxide ink. I didn’t break it up with water or splatters of any other colors. I glued everything straight down to the card panel. The sentiment is from a Lawn Fawn set heat embossed in white.
I hope you enjoy this card!
