Has this ever happened to you?  “OH NO!  I forgot my best friends wedding anniversary and need a super quick card!”  Well, worry no longer because I’ve got the solution for you.  Tone-on-tone bold floral cards are great for any kind of card you might need.  The hardest part of these cards is picking the color.  Not kidding at all.  Here’s the concept: light colored paper, dark ink of the same color, bold floral image, and a sentiment on a black strip with white heat embossing.

Simple right?!  Best of all, these cards can be mass produced quickly so you always have just the right card on hand for any occasion.  Check out this post all about how to mass produce cards.

You don’t have to use florals.  Any large, detailed image would work for this technique. I just happened to use my most favorite floral image.

Quick & Simple Tone-on-Tone Bold Floral Cards

First, grab the largest most detailed floral stamp you have.  I used the Beautiful Flowers by Simon Says Stamp stamp set. Next, pick out some fairly light colors of cardstock.  Then, select a dark ink to go with the light colors of cardstock.  Be sure to grab a few of your most favorite sentiments and some black cardstock and white embossing powder too.

I placed the stamp in my Misti since I used a very large stamp.  I’m not even sure I have a clear block large enough for that stamp! HA!

I used Distress Oxide inks to stamp my bold floral images.  Why?  I only had to stamp the images once instead of several times for a perfect stamp.  You don’t have to apply as much pressure to the stamp to get that perfect image.

Lastly, use the antistatic powder bag on the black cardstock, stamp your sentiment in Versamark ink, and coat in embossing powder and heat.  I trimmed the sentiment strip down and popped it up with some foam tape.

Some other options for the sentiment are to stamp the sentiment in black ink directly on the card panel or stamp the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink and use clear embossing powder over the sentiment.

It’s entirely up to you if you want to embellish the cards or not.  Sequins, Nuvo Drops, and Glossy Accents are perfect for these types of cards. Oh, oh oh!  Or you can use Wink of Stella or an Aqua Shimmer pen to color in the just the flowers on the image.  That would be really pretty too!
