Hey y’all! I have a Copic colored card for this week’s Make the Cards Challenge. It’s a color challenge this week in blue, red, and gold.

I haven’t been feeling the best in the world so I wanted to create a card to brighten up my day. I the Paint-A-Flower Anemone stamp set by Altenew. Since the flowers are the star of the show I kept everything else on the card super simple.

Remember when you Copic color you don’t have to put detail in every single element. Let the main feature be the star of the show.

Also, when you fill in the background with Copic coloring, it doesn’t have to be perfect. You can leave it streaky, color over it a few times to even it out a bit, or use a lighter color marker to create a specific texture.

For the flowers I used R29, R27, R24, YR16, and Y17. I started by flicking in the darkest red at the base of each petal and in the shadow areas. Any dips in the outer edge of the petal, I added a little triangle of red to create a shadow. This adds a touch of interest to the petals. Also, varying the length of the flicks adds more depth to the petals.

The R24 transitions the color from red to the YR16 orange gold color.

I trimmed down the panel with a stitched rectangle and cut off a bit off of each side of the flowers. Then I matted the panel on gold mirror cardstock and glued it to the front of a top folding white notecard.
