I was organizing my paper stash the other week and found some Stampin’ Up! resist paper that I had forgotten about.  It was stars, stripes, dots, and I think some floral in the pack.  I decided to use the stars and do some ink blending with Distress Inks and created this Ink Blended Thanks card.  I was very simple to complete and think took about 15 minutes.

Distress Ink Blended Thanks Card

Ink Blending

First, I cut down the 12 x 12 piece of resist paper with the star pattern to 3 3/4 x 5. I used a Mini Ink Blending tool to ink blend the background.  The Distress Inks I used were Broken China, Seedless Preserves, and Chipped Sapphire.  I wanted the center of the paper to be lighter in order to highlight the sentiment.

Next, I cut the ‘thanks’ three times from black cardstock and glued them together.  This gives the die cut more depth.  I put some clear Wink of Stella over the entire die cut sentiment.  Then, I adhered the sentiment to the center of the card.

While I liked the sentiment, the card needed a little something else so I added the simple silver paper strip.

The card base is a deep plum color.  It blends so well with the Distress Seedless Preserves.  I stamped the My Favorite Things Scattered Surface background stamp in the same deep plum color for an added detail.

This was a simple card with big impact. This background paper can be created using stamps and clear or white embossing powder then doing the distressing inking.
