AECP With A Twist
Hello! I’m working on Level Two of the Altenew Educator Certification Program. This is the card for With a Twist. It’s a class about how to use your stamps and dies a little differently or to look at them in a different way.
Watch this video to see how simple this card is to create. The products used in this video are linked at the bottom of this post.
One of the lessons was about faux embossing. It’s a simple technique that fools the eye into thinking the paper is embossed which is pretty simple and rather cool.
First, I die cut two of the same die. One from the same blue cardstock and the other from white so I could use it as a stencil. I also, used the outline die to cut out the blue die. The white one I didn’t so that when I added some ink it wouldn’t get on the outside of the die cut. I used a darker blue ink to add depth to inside parts of the die.
Then, I glue the die cut flat to the cardstock and trimmed off the right edge to even it up a bit.
Next, I die cut the sentiment from gold mirror cardstock and added two layers of white behind it. I popped up the panel with foam tape and added a gold strip to the right edge.
As a finishing touch, I added Nuvo Drop in a matching color to the dots around the edge of the die cut.
I hope you enjoyed this card and give it try.
