Double Slider Surprise + Hap-Pea Birthday
This is the last of the series for Lawn Fawn interactive cards. The Double Slide Surprise is probably my favorite of the interactive line. You can do so much with it and use it to deliver gift cards too! It doesn’t require a card base unless you want to use one. I like this particular interactive card all alone.
All of the products used are linked at the bottom of this post. Be sure to check out the double-sided adhesive line from Scrapbook.com. It’s amazing stuff and great for these interactive cards.

Double Slider Surprise Hap-pea Birthday
Creating a Double Slider Surprise card is pretty straight forward. Here are all of the pieces you’ll need.
The rest of the dies are optional. There is a die to create the stitched finger holds, pulls for the ends of the inside panels, and decorative items too.
The one thing that I noticed in all of the videos I’ve watched creating this kind of card is nobody shows how to get the plastic strip you need to create the wrap that makes this card work. In my video, I show you how to cut a plastic grocery bag so that it squares up and is easy to cut strips. I’ll list the steps here but highly encourage you to watch the video for more details.
- I use plastic bags from the grocery store. There’s nothing special about them except I make sure there’s no stretch marks or holes on the bag.
- I flatten the bag out as much as possible using the creased lines of the sides of the bag.
- I use my paper trimmer to cut the bottom seal off then turn the bag around and cut the handles off.
- Last, cut the bag using scissors at one of the crease lines.
And that’s it. You’ll be able to cut strips for the mechanical part of the Double Slider Surprise.
Tips to help with the card creation
Washi tape is your friend! I use washi tape to hold things in place for this card a lot. I use it to hold the plastic down while I make the loop. I use it to center up the inside panels to attach them to the plastic. I use it to hold die cut pieces down while I’m figuring out a design. Washi tape! You have it so use it!
Don’t use foam tape on the slide out panels. And don’t do too many layers of cardstock either.
Make sure the plastic loop isn’t too tight or too loose. You should be able to slide your pinky finger between the cardstock and the plastic. Unless you have big pinky fingers then make a little tighter. 😀
