I love the look of colored pencil on a card but I’m not the best in the world with colored pencils. I need more practice but it really isn’t on the top of to-do list right now. So instead, I thought I’d share some posts by other card makers that are much better with colored pencils than myself. These ladies are amazing card makers, plus they are pretty darn good with colored pencils.

As with any coloring medium, it take practice and patience to work with colored pencils. They require a little more time and a really light hand to get great results. I tend to color very heavy handed and my paper gets shiny pretty quickly which doesn’t allow for good blends when it comes to colored pencil.

Colored Pencil Round-up

Our first blog on our stop is from All the Sparkle by Jess. She’s using Luminance colored pencils by Caran d’Ache on a dark grey card stock. And it’s is just beautiful! Head over to All the Sparkle and check out this amazing card. And then come back here for more colored pencil inspiration.

Next up we have the super awesome Sandy Allnock! She’s known as the Copic and watercolor queen but she’s amazing with colored pencil too! She’s also using Luminance colored pencils by Caran d’Ache. It’s her paper that’s so special in this card. She’s using Stonehenge drawing Paper. It’s a bright white paper which you don’t see too often for colored pencil paper.

Have you ever heard of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge by Kathy? If not, you should! Kathy does about two events per year that challenges you to color something every single day for 30 days. And her work is beautiful. I picked this particular one because Kathy adds colored pencil to Copic colored images and the results are outstanding!!!

Debby Hughes from LimeDoodleDesigns.com is one of the best when it comes to coloring flowers with colored pencil! I love the texture and depth she gets. For this particular card she’s coloring on tone grey paper and using Polychromos colored pencils. I mean just look at those flowers! Just beautiful!

Last but definitely not least is Yana Smakula! I just love how she was able to blend the purple out into the white of the flowers! She’s using Polychromos colored pencils too. She leaves some of the pencil lines to add interest to the flowers. Such a beautiful card.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing various options for colored pencil coloring on cards. Please, give it a try and be sure to check out each of these blogs for more information about how each card was created.

I do have a simple colored pencil card that I’m rather proud of White Pencil on Dark Card Stock. Check it out!
