Hey y’all! We’re pulling out an oldie but a goodie. We’re stamping with water on Distress Oxide inks. It’s so simple and the most amazing results.

Check out this video to see how easy this comes together or scroll on for the details. All of the products used are listed at the bottom of the post.

This card is also part of this week’s challenge at Make the Cards Challenge. It’s a theme challenge. Use butterflies on your card. Head over and enter your card!

Make the Cards Challenge #12 Theme Butterflies

This card is created similar to how you’d make a galaxy background card. Start off by ink blending bright colors on the panel. I used blues and teals for the background colors.

TIP: You can use any ink that reacts with water. If you’re not sure, do a little test on some scrap paper before you start. Most dye inks will work for this technique.

Next, I added Distress Resist Spray so the dots of colors would show through the black ink. I wanted to do that instead of adding white dots so that it didn’t look like a sky so much. Once the Distress Resist Spray dies, add the black ink over the top of everything.

TIP: Add a ton of ink! The more ink you add the better results you’ll get when you stamp with water.

Make sure your background is completely dry before you stamp your image so that you get a crisp image. Also, it helps if the lines of the stamp are a little heavier. Mist the stamp with water. Just a fine mist will be fine. You don’t need large drops of water on the surface of the stamp.

TIP: Don’t pick up the stamp immediately. Let the stamp sit on the paper for a few moments. You’ll get a better image.

To finish off this card, I added shimmer spray and die cut the panel with stitched rectangle frame. Then popped the panel up with some foam tape. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. It is stamped in black pigment ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.
