Set-up Google Docs for Digital Stamps the Easy Way
My usual card size is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ (A2) which means I can print four digital stamps on one piece of cardstock. The issue I have is putting four digital stamp images in a document; it can be tricky to size everything correctly. I opt for a much easier method that works every time without fancy software. I set-up my page size to match the size of my card front in Google Docs. Google Docs is free with your Gmail account. Let’s go through the steps to see how quick and easy this is to do.
Set-up Google Docs for Digital Stamps the Easy Way
First things first: if you don’t have a Gmail go here to get one. Second, I cut my paper down to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and that’s what I print on. My printer is a Canon Pixma iP8720 wide format printer. It handles 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock like a dream!
- Open Google Docs
- Click on the Add-ons Menu and “Get Add-ons”; Search and find the Page Sizer add-on
- Once the add-on has been authorized click on File > Page Setup and change the margins to .25 for all 4 margins
- Click on the Add-ons menu and Page Sizer then change the page size to 4.25 and 5.5
- Go ahead and save the document
Adding Digital Stamp to a Google Doc
Once you’ve created your document, click on the Insert Menu and select Image. Navigate to the location of your digital stamps and select the image you want to print. Click on the image in the document to resize the image with the blue handles. You can also increase the transparency of the image to do no line coloring. Simple, right!?
Printing the Digital Stamp
Google Docs doesn’t allow for printing on pages outside of their predefined sizes. So to do this, just download the document as a PDF and then print the document.
- After you have inserted your digital stamp to your document, click on File > Download as > PDF
- Open the PDF document (either in the web browser or in a desktop application) and select Print
- Open the printer settings from the Print menu
- Change the document size to custom and change it to 4.25 and 5.5 then select OK/Apply
- Check the “Preview” checkbox so you can make sure the page size is correct then print
I know this may seem like a long process however it takes no time once you create the documents and save them. You can create and save any sizes you need to for your cards. Easy peezy! I have a little video walking you through the process and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to drop me an email at hello@jillcameroncreations.com.
