Organization Ideas for the Craft Room
Hey everybody! Today, we’re talking about organization ideas for the craft room. Here’s the thing that I want to make really clear before we get into this. These are things that work for me and how I work in my craft room. It might not work for you and if these things don’t work for you…that’s okay!
Another thing to keep in mind is storage for your craft supplies is a necessary thing. Not just for the organization of the items but to protect your investment. Think about it this way…if you just stack up your stamps in piles with no protection, stamps will get lost and stamps will get hard making them unusable. You might as well just throw the money in the trash. That might sound harsh but it’s true.
All of the products I talk about in the video are linked throughout the article below.

My craft room is all open containers and always more than a little messy. When it’s perfectly cleaned up I’m not as creative. My brain is a little messy so I like my room a little messy. That’s what works for me. And that doesn’t mean that is what will work for you. Do what works for you!
Are my stamps and dies organized? Yep! They are even inventoried but they just look a little messy. And that’s good with me.
What inspired this post today is I’m working on a refreshing project to make flipping through my stamps and dies easier. Each one is in a pocket but some have nice backer boards and some are just cardstock backers. That makes the stamp sets a little floppy. So I’m going through and laminating cardstock backers and adding magnetic sheets to the stamp sets that have coordinating dies.
The backer boards I use are leftover pieces from packaging. I save it from everything if I think I can use it and it’s in good shape. If I don’t have any then I’ll laminate a piece of cardstock.
I like the storage pockets from the CheckOutStore. They have several sizes available specifically for crafters. If you like the DVD style cases they have those too. I’ve linked the specific pockets I use above. It’s a great price point for the number of pockets. And I’ve only ever torn one and that’s saying something considering how much handling these pockets go through.
I found these adhesive backed magnetic sheets linked above the other day. They are thin enough that you can cut them with a paper trimmer but heavy enough that they hold dies really well.
Blending brushes have become super popular but I was slightly stumped on how to store them. The round storage things were pretty but not big enough because I have a ton of these things now. (I was a late adopter of these things.) Stamp-n-Storage has two different solutions in several sizes. The one pictured above is the one I have. It’s perfect! I’ll be taking it outside to spray paint it purple soon. I’ll share that picture when it’s done.
In the video, I talked about these pockets for my stencils. I have 4 or 5 pockets of stencils. These pockets are perfect for stencils. If you are looking for other storage items, take a look at the line that Scrapbook.com has. It’s linked right below. They have tons of new organization stuff.
The one thing I didn’t cover in the video is ink storage and that’s because there are so many options out there. I use the products from Stamp-n-Storage for my ink pads.
I found several options for small embellishment storage. I use the Elizabeth Ward Bead Storage one. That was the only one really available several years ago when I looking.
Well, that’s all we’re going to cover today. There’s so many options out there and I’ll share some other ideas after the Christmas in July series. I’ll also do a new craft room tour. That means it’ll have to be cleaned. Oh my! Hahahaha!
