Hearts and Hugs Emboss Resist Card
One of the easiest techniques in card making is the emboss resist technique. The Concord & 9th Cuddles and Hugs stamp and die set is the perfect set to demonstrate how beautiful this technique is. Emboss resist is an easy technique that doesn’t require many products: Distress Inks or Distress Oxide Inks, white or clear embossing powder, and a heat tool. That’s it! Let’s take a look at the steps to complete this card.

Hearts and Hugs Emboss Resist Card
First, I used an antistatic powder tool on my white cardstock panel. You don’t want the embossing powder to stick to places it shouldn’t stick. Next, I stamped the large heart from the Concord & 9th Cuddles and Hugs stamp set in Versamark ink. Then, I coated the image with white embossing powder and heat set it until the embossing powder is all smooth.
Use a Mini Ink Blending Tool to ink blend Distress Oxide inks in Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, and Wild Honey onto your cardstock panel. To add a little extra texture, I sprinkled the panel with water drops and used a paper towel to pick up the extra water. You don’t want to add too much water since we are working on regular paper. Trim the ink blended panel down so that it is a centerpiece on the front of an A2 sized card.
Then, I die cut the ‘hugs’ sentiment from the Cuddles and Hugs die set 3 times from black cardstock. To adhere delicate sentiments like this together, I use a Zig Two-Way Glue Pen. For some added shine, coat the sentiment in Clear Wink of Stella.
Lastly, to pull the card together, I mounted the ink blended panel on black cardstock. I stamped the little heart clusters in Distress Oxide on orange cardstock for a tone-on-tone look. The finishing touch is the Nuvo Jewel Drops. Mount all of the layers on the front of Neenah 110 lb card base.
