Top 10 gifts for card makers, scrapbookers, and papercrafters
Silhouette Cameo & Accessories
First, up is the digital die cutting machine. Digital die cutters have become super popular in the last decade. The Silhouette Cameo is the most versatile. It cuts everything from heavyweight cardstock to vinyl to felt. The software is feature-packed! One amazing feature allows you to cut out pretty much any stamped image. My other favorite feature is creating my own sentiments or background die cuts for my cards.
Silhouette Cameo 4 comes in white and at the time of this writing, you can pre-order the black or pink version of the machine. I’ve also included some cutting mats and a bundle for additional blades.
Tim Holtz Paper Trimmers
Paper trimmers are a must-have in any craftroom. Finding an amazing paper trimmer is a tall order sometimes. These are four paper trimmers that I think are pretty amazing. Each paper trimmer is valuable in their very own way.
The Tonic Studios 8.5″ Comfort Timmer is the perfect table top trimmer. It’s small size makes it ideal for card makers. This paper trimmer will not cut 12 x 12 cardstock.
The next size for the Comfort Trimmer line is the 12.25″ trimmer. The scrapbooker and card maker in your life will thank you for this workhorse of a paper trimmer.
The We R Memory Keepers Premium Paper Trimmer is the best of both worlds. It cuts larger cardstock but also folds down for storage. The metal cutting rail means smooth straight cuts too.
And the final one in the list is the Xacto 12″ Laser Paper Trimmer. This is the Cadillac of paper trimmers. You’ll never have a lopsided cut again with laser precision cutting.
Die Cutting Machines
Die cutting machines are one of the most important tools in the craft room. We use it pretty much every single time we create anything. There are some pretty significant differences in die cutting machines from hand cranks to electric. Also, the width of the platform various too.
The Spellbinders Platinum 6 and Sizzix Big Shot are both very similar die cutting machines. Both function exactly the same and are the same width. Their big brothers are both similar too but just wider platforms.
The Sizzix Big Shot Pro is the largest hand crank die cutting machine on the market.
Sizzix also makes an electric die cutting machine. Instead of cranking the plates, paper, and dies through the machine, you just press a button and the machine does the cranking.
Organizational Stuff
Something every crafter struggles with is organization. Where in the world do you put all the stuff?! And for card makers and scrapbookers, there’s a lot of stuff. There’s lots of little embellishments and bottles, tons of paper, and tools galore.
Well, these carts are the best things ever! And the accessories for the carts are even better! I bought my first cart from Ikea about 3 years ago and then everyone started coming out with carts thankfully! These carts hold a ton of stuff and can store away easily because they have wheels.
I’ve also included storage boxes for stamps and dividers for labels. My favorite stamp storage pockets are from TheCheckOutStore. They are sized perfectly for all different sizes of stamps and the best part is they are totally affordable.
I’m done with organizational products just yet. One of the biggest struggles for any stamper is how to store all of the ink pads we have. There’s this family-owned and operated company in Minnesota, Stamp-n-Storage, that makes ink pad storage solutions.
But wait! I’m not done yet! Paper storage is the other HUGE issue. Stamp-n-Storage also makes paper storage solutions.
Cardstock
Everyone has their opinions about cardstock. Here’s the deal…the cardstock used to make cards needs to be about 80lb cardstock. Anything less and the card feels cheap and flimsy.
Scrapbook.com has pre-cut panels in a rainbow of colors and at an amazing price point. I put this set of cardstock on the gift guide for card makers specifically. The cardstock is 85lb cardstock which is perfect for the card makers.
If you’re looking for 8 1/2″ x 11″ cardstock then I have to recommend Papertrey Ink/Ink to Paper cardstock. They have a nice selection of colors and various pack sizes.
For the 12″x 12″ scrapbookers out there, I recommend Bazzill cardstock. There’s a million colors and finishes. Scrapbookers need varied texture and finish for their pages and Bazzill delivers that in spades.
Inks
There are a lot of different inks out on the market now so I have a few suggestions for you.
For the Copic colorist in your crafty bunch I recommend Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink. I love it and use it as my all the time black ink. It doesn’t smear and the black is nice and dark.
If your crafting family member is just getting started then check out the Altenew inks or Scrapbook.com Hybrid Inks. Both brands come in color groups for easy coordination. Altenew has a few more colors available than Scrapbook.com.
Distress Oxide and Distress Inks are a must have for any crafter. There are so many techniques you can do with these inks.
Stocking Stuffers
These items are all smaller things that every crafter can use. I’ve included liquid adhesives, small comfort scissors, embellishments, crafting mats, cutting guides, ink blending tools, and stamping platforms.
The MISTI stamping platform is my most used tool in my craftroom!
Envelopes
I forget about envelopes all the time and no gift card for card makers can be complete with envelopes! I mean you can’t send a card without an envelope but I never think about them. Oops! I like white envelopes but that’s not the only kind out there. Gina K Designs has an amazing selection of high-quality envelopes.
There are many sizes for cards so I’ve included a few different sizes too.
If your crafty person makes odd sized cards or cards with a ton of depth to them you might want to check out an envelope punch board. With this nifty little item you can create whatever size envelope you need for any card.
Well, that’s the entire list!
