Hello! Today we are making a Father’s Day Card using products from Papertrey Ink’s Ink to Paper collection: Nifty Plaid and Dapper Chap. Also, I’m sharing a card sketch and color combination with you that I used to create this card.

Card Sketch & Color Combination

Sometimes I just don’t have any good card making mojo. When this happens I turn to card sketches and color combinations. This usually gets my juices flowing. And like I said before, creating cards for guys is just not that easy for me. So I decided I’d challenge myself and create my own card sketch and color combination to use for some Father’s Day cards.

Bow Ties Are Cool Father’s Day Card

I decided that I wanted to do something cute for my first Father’s Day card. I got the Dapper Chap and Nifty Plaid stamp sets just for Father’s Day card making fun when I realized that I really didn’t have any Father’s Day themed stamp sets.

First, I stamped the plaid background. I used Distress Embossing Glaze in Hickory Smoke on a warm white paper. The paper isn’t exactly white but it’s not really brown either. Then, I trimmed down the panel to match the width of the stamp.

Next, I stamped the bow-ties in white pigment ink on dark navy cardstock. The detail image is stamped in dark navy ink. Be sure to dry the pigment ink before you handle the stamped images. Remember pigment inks sit on top of the paper and stay wet much longer.

After the bow-tie stamped images were dry, I fussy cut them out. I know it’s shocking but I did! Next, I stamped the sentiment from the Dapper Chap stamp set in dark navy ink.

I adhered the plaid embossed panel flat to the kraft card base. Then I popped up the bow-ties and the sentiment using foam tape. Finally, I added Nuvo Stone Drops around the card to bring it all together.
