Alternate Colors & Stamps for Christmas Cards
Hello! It’s the first day of July so it’s the start of Christmas in July! YAY!! I’m so excited! I hope you are too. Throughout this month we’re using our stash and focusing on building our creativity. We’re looking at new ways to use what we have and breathing new life into some old techniques. AND! I have some surprises for my email subscribers too! (If you’re not a subscriber, there’s a form below.)
Alternate Colors
Let’s jump in and talk about some alternate colors and stamps for Christmas cards. Colors first. For these cards I didn’t stray too far away from the traditional red and green BUT check out how different these cards look just by adding more pinks and a dark shade of green.
Just for my email subscribers! A printable with some alternate color selections for your Christmas cards.
I started by picking a red and green that were pretty traditional colors and complimented each other well. Then, I added a mid-tone pink and a light pink for the red. For the green, my color was a mid-tone so I selected a lighter green and my really dark contrasting green that had hint of blue to it.
Did you know I have a board on Pinterest that is nothing but color combos? Check it out. You can also search on Pinterest for Christmas colors and see a ton of different color pallets.
Alternate Stamps
We’ve talked about our alternate colors for Christmas cards so now let’s look at alternate stamps. You don’t have to have Christmas stamps specifically to make Christmas cards. Okay…you need the sentiment stamps but just one good one with a few different one will do nicely. The one I used from Sweet -n- Sassy Stamps is perfect. It’s linked below.
But seriously! Checkout the cards that are just everyday flower stamps by making the sentiment Christmas, it’s now a Christmas card! And still gorgeous. When we think of flowers at Christmas we usually think of poinsettias or maybe a Christmas cactus but use your favorite colors and a holiday sentiment and BAM! you’ve got a holiday card.
Now, if you’re thinking ‘Jill, this just isn’t my jam and I really like traditional Christmas cards.’ Don’t worry! I’ve got you covered. We’re going to making some traditional cards, using up some of that patterned paper we all have in our stash and so much more over this month.
