Howdy, y’all! This particular lesson was really outside the box for me which made me stretch my card making skills. This is a card for the Altenew Education Certification Program and the lesson on Irresistible Inking Techniques. This class uses basic inking techniques in different ways. I learned a lot from this class.

First, I inked up a medium size acrylic block. Yep you read that correctly. I stamped it on a white cardstock panel and then trimmed it down to leave a little boarder around the edge. Then I rounded the corners to match the corners of the stamped image. Isn’t that speckled background amazing??

If you have a large rectangle stamp that is a solid image, you can do the same thing by spritzing the inked stamp with a bit of water. It’ll break up the ink on the stamp.

Next, I stamped the outline of a flower from the Beautiful Days stamp set. I stamped it in dark purple ink. Then, I stamped only one of the layers in the lightest color of purple ink. Some of the petals are just the outline. Some of the petals have a little bit of detail. It’s so simple and pretty.

I also, stamped the outlines of several of the smaller floral images in a mid-tone purple. I didn’t fill in any of these images with color, instead I colored the images in with clear glitter gloss marker.

For a little pop of color I stamped one of the leaf images from the same stamp set and then used the same process as the main flower. I stamped the one of the layers in a really light green.

The sentiment is on purple cardstock. I didn’t have a color that matched so I inked white cardstock using the same dark purple ink. Then I white heat embossed the sentiment on the custom cardstock. Just be sure the paper is totally dry before you emboss on it.

  1. I think you created a lovely card even though you were not comfortable with it! I do love your more clean and simple approach to your cards but I think you will surprise yourself if you do venture into the messy but oh-so-beautiful world of inky and watercolour goodness.
