Good Day!  I try to participate in card challenges throughout the month.  The challenge could be a color scheme or a layout/sketch.  CASE This Sketch is a weekly layout challenge. Now the best thing about these kinds of challenges is it gets you to think outside the box for card creation.  It might get you to use a product in a different way or use a bold sentiment.  This is creation was inspired by this week’s CASE This Sketch weekly challenge (#253).  Purple is my favorite color and once I picked out the paper it all came together.

Absolutely Fabulous in Purple Card CASE This Sketch Challenge 253

First of all, to create the background of the card, I used the largest die from the My Favorite Things Die-namics Stitched Rectangle to cut the purple piece and white piece of cardstock.

Next, cut the ‘fabulous’ out of 80lb Neenah Solar White four times.  You’ll want to adhere each layer together to make one think diecut.

Coat the diecut in Versamark ink by pressing the diecut into the pad face down.  Be sure to coat the entire surface of the diecut. I recommend using a pair of craft tweezers to hold the diecut.  Coat the die cut piece in Silver Glitter Embossing Powder and heat with your heat gun. I repeated this entire process again.

As soon as I realized the white piece at the top of the card needed a little something else, I pulled out the Star Flower stamp by Simon Says Stamp and inked it up with Grapesicle ink by My Favorite Things Stamps.  This provided a subtle background.

Then, I stamped the smallest Circle Scribble Flower from My Favorite Things in Grape Jelly ink and white heat embossed the outline of the flowers.  The leaves are stamped in Green-Eyed Monster My Favorite Things ink and outlined with Versafine Black Onyx ink with clear heat embossing. I fussy cut all three images.

Put it all together

Now, glue the white panel directly to the purple panel.

The patterned strip of polka dots is from Dots & Stripes Neutrals Paper Pack from My Favorite Things.  Glue the strip to the very bottom edge of the ‘Absolutely’ diecut.

Lastly, the assembly of the card is pretty simple now.  Place the flowers and leaves first, then adhere the ‘absolutely’ black sentiment.  I popped up the second part of the sentiment with foam tape cut down into small pieces.  I adhered the entire panel on a top folding note card of dark grey.

Check out another of my favorite cards here.
