What’s in Your Scrap Paper?

Hey! It’s been a while. I’ve been in a crafting slump and just uninspired….until! I saw a card the other day on Instagram and it had this beautiful rainbow wreath of different die cuts on a black background and I got inspired. So I made that card.

This post isn’t as much about what products I used to create these cards as it is about how one card can inspire many other cards.

As you can see I used a BUNCH of different colors of cardstock to create the rainbow wreath. I used half of a quarter of a sheet of cardstock for each color. This left me with a bunch of half panels. What do I do with those? MAKE MORE CARDS!!

I just started pulling dies and stamps out of my stash and made cards. I didn’t pay attention to if the products were still available or new or popular. I just started creating.

There are twelve different colors.

I cut all of the remainder of each piece of cardstock into 1/4″ strips. Each strip measured 1/4″ wide by 4 1/4″ long.

The first several cards It’s pretty easy to see how the strips were used. Each strip is glued down to a panel of lightweight white cardstock or typing paper or a double-sided adhesive panel.

For the first card, above, I trimmed down the sides of the striped panel and popped it up with some foam tape, and mounted it on black cardstock. The sentiment is white glitter paper and then a few jewels.

The slimline card was created the same way. I added the bold black die cut on top and the sentiment in white again. But this creates a totally different look than the first card.

For this card, I made the striped panels and then die cut them using different sides of stitched hearts. Then I coated each of them in two layers of clear embossing powder. I’m one of those people who loves the texture of the embossing so I don’t do layers until it was all smooth.

The last two cards I used the left over strips to create one last panel and then die cut the sentiments from that. I kept the cards simple so the colors would stand out in the sentiments.
